NOTES
The reading plan above generally follows
the Lectionary for Weekday Masses published in 1965 to accompany the interim
revision of the Roman Missal. If you have a copy of either published edition
(Benzinger Brothers or Catholic Book Publishing Company), you will find that the
readings for the Weekdays following Christ the Eternal Word come from the texts
for the Twenty-eighth Week after Pentecost. Advent generally follows the
Weekday Lectionary as provided, except for St. Andrew’s Day. The readings for
the Ember Days are supplied from the Book of Common Prayer.
Beginning on December 26, the readings
simply follow sequentially what is provided, so you may wish to note that the
dates do not match. Ultimately, the readings sync again on Tuesday, January 27.
January 31 is the final day of the
Christmas Cycle. A follow-up calendar will be provided in January to cover
Shrovetide and Lent.
Minor Feast days may be marked with a
proper collect, but the readings provided above should be used unless the Feast
is of the patron of the local ministry.
